Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969, while Michael Collins orbited above in Columbia.
Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface, followed by Aldrin. The crew returned safely to Earth four days later, bringing back samples and photographs from the historic mission.
